From laser pens to an AI team: Hive Centra is officially live

It is 1999. A real estate agent is sitting in their office saying nobody will ever look at homes on the World Wide Web. Buyers will come to my office, ask to speak to a real estate agent, and we will drive around and look at homes, the way it has always been done.

We all know how that turned out. Consumers wanted access and an easy button, and the agents who adapted rode the biggest wave the industry had ever seen. The ones who were too stubborn got left explaining themselves.

People had that exact conversation about the internet. Then about cell phones. Now it is AI's turn, and the same split is happening all over again. I am not writing this to scare you. I am writing because the wave is already here, and this time you do not have to figure it out alone.

Today is the day. Hive Centra is officially live.

If you only take one thing from this post, take this: there is now an AI native platform built for real estate agents, built by a producing agent, built right here in Lubbock, Texas. It was made to help you grow your business, look sharper to your clients, and protect what you have worked so hard to build. The rest of this post is the story of why it exists. I hope you will stick around for it, because I think you will see yourself in parts of it.

It started with a laser pen

I knew I was going to be an entrepreneur in the fourth grade.

My dad bought me a laser pen at the fair for five dollars, and I grabbed two extras for friends. One friend got his. The other never showed up to school. So there I was with a spare laser pen and a hallway full of kids asking if they could buy it. I told them twenty bucks and it was theirs. Five hands went up on the spot.

That night I asked my dad to take me back to the fair so I could buy every laser pen they had left. He asked why, I told him what was happening at school, and he got a kick out of it and said sure. I bought twenty pens at five dollars each and sold out the next day.

Not a bad margin for a fourth grader. But the real lesson stuck with me for life: if you are willing to go find what people need and bring it to them, you can build a business. I ran the same play with those yellow Livestrong bracelets when everybody had to have one. And ever since, I have had a knack for finding solutions to people's problems, in their lives and in their businesses. That instinct is what built my real estate career, and it is the entire reason Hive Centra exists.

The room that changed everything

I have been a top producer here in Lubbock, and the whole time I have carried a second passion: CRM systems. In all my years I found exactly one CRM that felt truly built for an agent. I ran my business on it for five years and it genuinely helped me grow. Ironically, the person who created it became my mentor, and today he is my business partner.

In 2019 I helped run the KW Labs division here in Lubbock, back when Keller Williams was the pioneer in real estate technology. That role put me in a room in Las Vegas at a convention called RealCon, where entrepreneurs and startups from across the real estate world were invited to present in front of Gary Keller himself.

I jumped at that opportunity, and I am so glad I did. I got to sit with bright young founders who had built software companies out of basements and their parents' houses. I admired the sweat equity they poured into helping the real estate agent, instead of playing the game the big Z company plays, constantly figuring out new ways to go after an agent's livelihood. Some of those companies are thriving in real estate today. Others did not stick, and people call that failure. I say the market just was not ready for them yet.

That room is also where I got my first real education in AI agents. Through those connections I got early access to the technology that later became ChatGPT, back when it was closed off to the public and built for software engineers. It was raw, it was hard to use, and it was clearly going to change everything. That is where I started learning how to actually talk to AI, years before the rest of the world got a friendly chat window.

What I saw agents doing with AI last year

Fast forward to last year. Agents everywhere started discovering AI and building it into their businesses, and I was thrilled to see it. But I also watched it hurt people. A generic chatbot does not know your database, your pipeline, or your numbers. Ask it the wrong way and it will confidently hand you a wrong answer, and you will never know until it costs you a client.

I am not here to geek out about prompts. I am here to tell you what we did about it.

Why Hive Centra runs on 18 AI agents

We built Hive Centra with 18 specialized AI agents, and the number is not a gimmick. It is the guardrail.

A single do-everything AI will hallucinate. It will give you bad information just to give you information. So we refused to build one. Instead, every agent in Hive Centra is a specialist that only works its own lane:

  • Have a question about your transaction, a contract, or an amendment? Only Closer handles that.
  • Need marketing and content? That is Blaze's world.
  • Want to know your conversion rates, and exactly what it takes to hit your yearly, monthly, weekly, and daily goal? Key does the math, holds you to it, and coaches you every single day.

Eighteen specialists, one platform, all sitting on top of your actual business: your database, your pipeline, your numbers. Not a blank chat window that starts from nothing every time you open it.

And because we are still in a data war with the big tech companies (a story for another day), Hive Centra is built to protect you and your data, not harvest it.

Remember the agent from 1999? The difference between the agents who won that era and the ones who got left behind was never talent. It was the willingness to adapt early. This is your early.

Built in Lubbock, for Lubbock first

Here is the part I am most proud of. You have an AI native technology company right here in Lubbock, Texas, with a founder whose whole career has been about solving problems for the people around him. I built this because I want to give back to the community that built me.

Whether you are brand new to AI or already one of the best AI users in the business, Hive Centra will meet you where you are and propel you forward. I firmly believe we have built a system that props up real estate agents, makes them look better to their clients, and lets them deliver value they simply could not deliver without technology.
